JOY
Joy, you were a very close friend to me, in fact, you were so much more
The support and love and kindness you gave, to me and many more.
I had the joy of knowing you for over 30 years
We shared our children's lives, their successes and their fears.
The highs and lows, the laughter, celebrations and the fun
Sitting round your farm house table, chatting endlessly with your mum.
Our shared love of Gianni’s, Italian food at its best. We shared so many memories, I truly have been blessed.
A friend so loyal, a friend so kind, the perfect mum and wife. I feel so very honoured to have had you in my life.
My 3 tried hard to learn to play accordion at your home
With you and Scott being patient, yet their skills we could not hone.
The day I rushed to hospital to support you through the night
When Clare had a terrible accident, yet you never gave up the fight.
I know how much you loved all of your family - unconditionally
We talked about me wanting to be your sister unofficially.
Selling eggs, making soups, supporting John at work
Your passion for your garden, you were never one to shirk.
The hours you spent at baking and growing things for Dalston show
Your enthusiasm, loyalty and commitment we all know.
The baby lambs you tended, kept warm laid by the Aga
Patiently feeding them, nursing them, no one could try any harder.
I loved helping you on your farm produce stall in the centre of Carlisle. Eggs galore for everyone. We had fun there for a while.
We loved your bonny accent - the girl who came from Troon
You'd ring and say "It's just Joy". How you brightened up the room.
When we weren't together, we talked for many hours upon the phone
You'd have thought that we had telecom shares, chatting endlessly at home
I'm not sure what we talked about, but we never tired of chat
I missed you when we moved down south, there's no two ways about that!
The family highlight moments, we shared together with pride
But even with miles between us, you never really left my side.
Life won't be the same without you, as mum and wife and friend
But Joy I'll never forget you, my true pal, until the end.
Much love Wendy x (David, Daniel, Rachel and Laura)

I am I and you are you, whatever we were to each other that we still are.
Speak to me in the easy way which you always used.
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
Life means all that it ever meant, it is the same as it ever was.
